Cartridge World announces new partnership with Cartridges 4 Planet Ark

Cartridge World has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability with the announcement of a new partnership with Planet Ark’s Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program.

Cartridge World have been working with Planet Ark to keep cartridges out of landfill by installing Cartridges 4 Planet Ark recycling boxes across their Australian stores. Now, they have taken this commitment to the next level by signing on as a full partner of Cartridges 4 Planet Ark.

Under the new partnership, Cartridge World will take full responsibility for the product stewardship of their printer cartridges by paying for the recycling of all Cartridge World branded cartridges.

“More than 50 percent of our household waste is recycled each year, according to Planet Ark, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement in areas including electronic waste. Cartridge World has been championing the recycling cause with refilled cartridges, for more than 20 years, with cartridge remanufacturing accounting for around 20 percent of the chain’s business. The partnership with Planet Ark, strengthens its green credentials, by taking full responsibility for its Cartridge World branded products. This demonstrates how Cartridge World is leading the way to promote environmental sustainability amongst its customer base.” Cartridge World CEO, Peter Mitropoulos said.

Cartridge World’s network of 130+ locations across the country means that the company is uniquely placed to advocate cartridge recycling to customers.

“With the help of businesses and consumers, Planet Ark has diverted over 46 million cartridges from landfill through our Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program,” Planet Ark CEO Paul Klymenko said.

“As both a cartridge manufacturer and a retail store, Cartridge World has an important role to play in this story. By coming on board as a full partner, Cartridge World is helping transition the industry to more sustainable circular economy business models and educating customers on the importance of cartridge recycling.”

The Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program is managed by Close the Loop, a Melbourne-based recycler with a zero waste to landfill guarantee. Planet Ark works closely with Close the Loop to deliver one of Australia’s longest running and most trusted product stewardship programs.

“Close the Loop is excited to bring Cartridge World on as a new partner in the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program, and we look forward to working in partnership with the Cartridge World team to deliver world-class circular economy outcomes” Marc Lichtenstein, Joint CEO of Close the Loop, said.

This announcement comes at a time when customers are putting increased pressure on brands to demonstrate their environmental credentials. Cartridge World is embracing this shift in the market by taking full responsibility for the lifecycle of its products through the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program.

Participating manufacturers of the Close The Loop program include, HP, Brother, Epson, Canon, Kyocera, Konica Minolta, Lexmark, Sharp, Toshiba, Xerox as well as Cartridge World branded products.

Cartridge World are the only dedicated manufacturer of consumables to suit all brands of printers in the Australian market, who are committed to a greener future for the planet, and view the importance of moving towards a more sustainable circular economy business model as central to playing our part.
