Our History
1988
Cartridge World, originally named Australian Cartridge Company, was founded in Adelaide, Australia by Bryan Stokes. Bryan saw an advert in the South Australian Advertiser that read "Make $75 every 15 minutes refilling laser printer cartridges." So he decided to give it a go and began manufacturing and selling cartridges from his garden shed.
1992
Bryan joined forces with Paul Wheeler and together they developed the franchising model of Cartridge World.
1997
The company opened its first franchise location in Adelaide and more quickly followed.
1999
The decision was made to Master Franchise which enabled significant expansion of stores worldwide. The company also changed its name to Cartridge World.
2000
The first international Master was established in New Zealand.
2001
The first UK Cartridge World franchise was established in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
2003
Cartridge World opened its first franchise in the USA in Orlando, Florida. There was rapid expansion across Europe and the USA with a new store opening each day.
2005
The company celebrated the opening of their 1000th Cartridge World store in Atlanta, Georgia. In the same year, Cartridge World expanded into Asia with the first Asia Master Franchisee granted for Indonesia in December 2005.
2007
Cartridge World was purchased by an Australian private-equity firm, Wolseley Private Equity. Company Headquarters relocated from Adelaide to Emeryville, California. Over the next 8 years there was expansion across Asia, the Middle East and East Africa.
2015
Suzhou Goldengreen Technologies Ltd (SGT) purchased the Cartridge World Group globally and company Headquarters relocated to Hong Kong.
2016
Global launch of Cartridge World Premium and Classic toner and inkjet cartridges.
2018
CWA Australia & NZ Pty purchased the license to Cartridge World Australia & New Zealand with its Head Office located in Cleveland, Queensland.
2020
There are over 130 Cartridge World franchises operating across Australia and New Zealand.
